Providing Inspiration to the Youth

Inspiring People to Become a Better Version of Themselves

Chillin’s Creations provides services such as mentoring youth, poetry lessons, arts and crafts, in  many communities in Portland, Oregon. We encourage, support, and teach life skills to young people that will allow them to realize and maximize their fullest potential.

We strive to disprove stereotypes, break down barriers, promote self-esteem, and personal growth. Through the development of our youths’ confidence, character, and determination, we all stand and take a pledge to say no more to the troubles of yesterday as we look forward to the possibilities of tomorrow.

As part of our mission to inspire and empower the youth, we are putting out a children’s book titled, "Chillin’ the Courageous Coyote Meets the Young Kids", written by Montrell “Chillin’ the Poet” Goss. A series of books about a coyote and three kids who become friends.

"I didn't realize I had a master plan, until I worked hard ti master my plan"  Chillin' the Poet

Meet Montrell “Chillin’ the Poet” Goss

Montrell Goss grew up in a single-parent household. He is the youngest child among five siblings: three older brothers and a younger sister.

Growing up without a dad really affected Montrell. Living in the cold streets of Portland, Oregon, a city where there isn’t much to do, he tried to occupy his time by playing sports and spending time with his family. As an adolescent, he spent most of his time in the Bible club and church.

As the years went by, Montrell started to get stronger in faith. By the age of 19, he got serious about his writing.

Everybody has a story to tell, but some people just don’t know how to tell it. Montrell was one of those people. Until one day, God spoke to him and said, “It’s easier to get your feelings out if you write them down on paper.” After that, he began to write a book.

By the age of 20, he released his first book called “Judgment Day,” a book of personal opinions about faith, struggle, and life expressed in poetic form.

In 2015, “Mixed Feelings” was released. Montrell’s goal is to win souls, make disciples, and help people release the feelings that they hold within. He believes that people shouldn’t let yesterday stop them from being better people today. All and all, Montrell wants to show that, through everything you go through in life, there will always be a better day.

As a coach, summer camp counselor, and a teacher, Montrell has found himself in many positions that have allowed him to act as a male role model, and mentor to the people, especially youth, around him. This passion led to the establishment of the Foundation in 2010.

Still dedicated to mentoring youth as an adult, just as he was as a teenager, Montrell has continued to give back to the Portland community he grew up in. In his community, Montrell is not only known as Mr. G and Popeye to his youth, but also as Chillin' the Poet – his alias when performing poetry from his books.

His performances have been used for educational purposes as an extension of the Foundation, as well as for entertainment for special events. Six books, many schools, community centers, and countless families later, Montrell has remained committed to his vision of change and youth advocacy through mentorship.
